When planned well, there's a lot of fun you can have and memories you can make in the span of a day.

Husein Alireza

Jeddah is a city with endless possibilities, and I hope this guide makes it just a little easier for you to find interesting things to see and do while you're in the city – whether it's your first time or you've been coming for years.

Breakfast at Moon Shell

Breakfast is arguably the most important meal of the day, especially for athletes. And, my favourite spot in town when I’m in the mood for a healthy start is Moon Shell. Their fresh, delicious acai bowls come with a long list of health benefits, including amino acids, energy, antioxidants, fibre, and healthy omega fatty acids. The building itself is a beautiful blend of modern and traditional elements. From the intricate tile work to the rich colours and textures, I appreciate how every detail has been carefully considered. The use of natural materials like wood and stone adds to the overall aesthetic, giving the space a rustic yet modern feel.

Post-Breakfast Activities

After breakfast I enjoy taking advantage of what sets Jeddah apart – its stunning coastline. As well as being welcoming for leisurely dips, the crystal-clear blue water is ideal for water sports, diving, and snorkelling. The Red Sea is home to astonishing marine life and a variety of underwater animals like lionfish, barracuda, stingrays, turtles, and octopus.

Lunch at Al Basali

Located in Al Balad, the historic centre and beating heart of Jeddah, Al Basali is a family-owned seafood restaurant, which is one of the reasons it's one of my favourite lunch spots. Being bona fide Jeddawis, the family members present truly authentic and fresh dishes. They've got a great mix of customers and a closely guarded special mix of spices.

Post-Lunch Activities

Head to Zawiya 97, also in Al Balad, while taking in the UNESCO World Heritage Site’s stunning buildings, from the latticed windows to the decorated doors, and cobblestones. Founded by my friend Ahmad Angawi, Zawiya 97 is a cultural centre that focuses on ventures in the arenas of art, culture, and education.

Dinner at Al Nakheel

Located on the corniche, Al Nakheel has long been a favourite for people living in and visiting Jeddah. With its massive outdoor seating area, friendly and welcoming staff, and laid-back vibe, it’s perfect for kicking back after a busy day. As well as a beautiful location overlooking the sea, its Hijazi dishes are second to none.

Post-Dinner Activities

Add in a bit more exercise by renting a bike and going for a spin by the corniche. The fun and joy a simple bike ride can trigger does wonders, especially when breathing in that sea air! I would also suggest a beneficial mid-ride Karak tea stop at one of the multiple kiosks on the seaside promenade. End the day in contemplation by visiting , also known as the Floating Mosque. The calmness surrounding the distinct blue and white landmark at that time makes it perfect for praying or reflecting.
